Mt. Ararat held a memorial ceremony in recognition of the tenth anniversary of the September 11, 2011 attacks on the World Trade Center, Pentagon, and Flight 93. Mt. Ararat English teacher, Stu Palmer spoke to students about his college room-mate and close friend who perished in the World Trade Center attack. He shared how the incident impacted him personally and how the attack had a profound affect on his personal life. Retired Mt. Ararat art teacher, Chris Chapman shared with the students how the event had a profound affect on students and teachers ten years ago. She described how the school and community came together to build a replica of the twin towers on campus and each student created clay figurines representing each person who died in the attack. As a culminating activity to the event, all Mt. Ararat students and faculty members formed a circle around the twin towers replica for a moment of silence while Mt. Ararat student, Caleb Grant played taps.
