MYAN Conference

Six Mt. Ararat students and English teacher, Jessica Newton attended the annual Maine Youth Action Network state conference in Augusta on November 21 and 22.  This two-day overnight event gathered 250 Maine youth in grades 7-12 and their adult partners to work together to create positive change in their schools and communities.  At the event, students and their partners:  (a) received leadership skills training, (b) gained information, identified resources, and made connections by participating in a number of informative workshops, and (c)  created a specific and measurable action plan to bring back to their school and community.  The Mt. Ararat contingent has received a $500 grant from Maine Access Health to promote healthy living for students.
